| En route to Grand Targhee Ski Resort, Alta, WY, sits just over the Idaho/Wyoming border approximately 6 miles east of Driggs, ID and can be accessed only via Teton Valley, ID. The heart of this small community is the renowned k-6th grade Alta Elementary School. The Teton County Library has an Alta Branch housed in a new building nearby the school. Next door to the library is the episcopal church of St.Francis of the Tetons. During winter months there is a nordic ski track set in Alta with access next to the library. In addition to the nordic track there is also a horse drawn sleigh track that is frequented by local residents. Enjoy beautiful Teton views and rolling terrain on these well groomed paths. Just a few miles down the road are classic and beautiful views of the Grand Teton and access to Teton Canyon. Teton Canyon offers trails to popular local hikes, including the top of Table Mountain, Alaska Basin, and the Devil's Staircase. Over the winter months TVTAP maintains 3 miles of nordic track to the base of Teton Canyon, making for a 6 mile round-trip loop that is very popular. Single-family homes are the residential norm in Alta, with most people living in rural feeling, established subdivisions. There are also a number of large land holdings available. With the foothills of the Tetons forming the eastern boarder of the Alta area, several properties abut National Forest and BLM land.
