About Teton Valley
| At an elevation of 6,229 ft, Teton Valley, Idaho borders Wyoming and the magnificent Teton mountain range. The valley is home to the towns of Victor, Driggs, Tetonia, and Alta, WY. Over the years, many have been drawn to this unique area. Established in 1915, Teton County encompasses 450 sq. miles and is home to approximately 8,000 residents. The valley's history is rich with stories of Native American councils, fur trapping rendezvous, homesteaders, farmers, ranchers and mountain explorers. Visit the Teton Valley Museum to view local artifacts. Scenic views around the area are dramatic and welcoming. The ancient forces that created the wonders of nearby Yellowstone also gave birth to the spectacular Teton Mountain Range that highlight Teton National Park. The mountains rise to more than 13,000 feet and frames the valley to the East. To the West the Big Hole Range offers a backdrop for amazing sunsets. Through the middle of it all runs the meandering Teton River, an added attraction for the large number of migrating birds that stop-over here. Teton Valley offers numerous activities and is surrounded by thousands of acres of easily accessible National Forest and Wilderness. Our summers are famous for warm days and pleasant nights, while winters bring world-renowned "champaign powder" to our local ski areas. In addition to outdoor activities, the valley hosts a variety of spas, cafes, boutiques, and coffee shops. Since a number of artists call Driggs home, there is also a thriving arts community. The local Teton Valley Arts Council holds regular classes in ceramics, dance, drawing, pastels, landscape design, theater, and writing. Their current Artists Gallery is located inside Alpine Wines in downtown Driggs. The valley community is active, down to earth and friendly — that's probably one reason why Men's Health named this area one of the top outdoor communities. And why we've also been recently recognized in the New York Times, USA Today, National Geographic, National Geographic Adventure, and the Robb Report. In downtown Driggs, enjoy live Music on Main in the summer or participate in our community fundraising Tin Cup race for non-profits. Our many active non-profits work together to better every aspect of our community and environment. For example, Friends of the Teton River help to protect and improve the Teton Basin watershed, while the Teton Regional Land Trust conserves our agricultural and natural areas for wildlife and future generations. Trails and Pathways maintain and expand our ski and bike trails, while the Teton Valley Education Foundation organizes volunteers and funds for our growing public schools. Getting to Teton Valley is easy - daily flights from many major cities fly into nearby Jackson Hole, WY (about 45 minutes away) or the Idaho Falls Regional Airport (about an hour's drive). Alternatively, Driggs hosts a wonderful airport with a 7300'x75' runway that can handle corporate jets and offers a full-service FBO, Warbirds Museum, restaurant, and heated hangars. Visit the Teton Valley Chamber of Commerce for more information on the valley and our community. Stay tuned to valley news with our local newspapers - Teton Valley News and the Valley Citizen.
